The Sound Way to Spelling, Writing and Reading programs, were developed by Craig Henderson who began his career in the early 70’s. Craig Is a highly qualified Australian teacher-trainer who has devoted his teaching career since 1988 to researching and developing the optimal approach to teaching the skills of spelling, writing and reading English. He commenced his research in 1988 upon deciding that there must be a more effective and efficient way to teach these fundamental language skills.

Craig's company is called Elect Spelling and Reading.

Craig has 33 years of teaching experience, a Diploma of Teaching, qualification in teaching and teacher training as a Foreign Language from Cambridge University and the Royal Society of Arts. His courses were awarded both state and national accreditation status by the Skills Standard and Accreditation Board of Western Australia in 1996.

In 1995 he produced the first video-edition of The Sound Way. Within two years of being released the program and the results it was achieving had received national notoriety and was being repeatedly featured on national television. Thousands of lives have been changed and the reputation of the success of the program continues to grow at an extraordinary rate. Currently the program is expanding into China, Malaysia and the Middle East.
